Volunteering With AWOGA @ TFL

Thank you for donating your time to support AWOGA UK raise the remaining £100,000 (of a £150,000 target) we need to provide an ICT Lab to AWMS. We appreciate your commitment to tapping into donors outside of the diaspora to supplement the giving we already receive from them. While we don't yet have figures for funds raised from TFL,  in 2023/24, £980,889.53 was raised through 440 collections at network rail stations. One charity, Passage, raises up to £45,000 a year at mainline railway and TFL underground stations across London. 

Your time donation matters

Stations allocated to us by TFL have been analysed by footfall. An attempt has been made to provide an equitable opportunity for each house based on this analysis. We thank you in advance for contributing to laying the foundations  of Sierra Leone's ICT excellence starting with digital skills for girls at AWMS

We suggest the following 1min pitch for majority of the public who may engage with you: 

"Thank you for coming over and for your interest

We're AWOGA UK — and we’re fundraising to give girls, living on less than $1 a day, the opportunity to access digital education.

Without access to devices, the internet, or even basic training in digital skills, these girls are being left behind in a world where digital knowledge opens doors to education, jobs, and economic freedom.

Our goal is to equip them with the tools and training they need to thrive in the future workforce, especially in science, tech, engineering, and maths — where women are still underrepresented especially so in developing countries.

Every donation helps buy computers, fund training, and open up a world of opportunity for a girl in Sierra Leone, ensuring she can contribute to building her self sufficient nation of the future.

We ask for a minimum of 3 hours at a station allocated to the house/team to which you are aligned. Time slots available: 07:00 -10:00, 10:00 - 13:00, 13:00 - 16:00, 16:00 - 19:00

Confirmed dates for further fundraising initiatives this summer. 

Based on footfall data from TFL, for the majority of stations, midweek represents the greatest fundraising opportunity. Donor patterns of giving tend to follow shortly after pay days.  First Tuesday of each month over the summer has been booked
